Kilopass Technology and GLOBALFOUNDRIES
Kilopass Technology's eXtra Permanent Memory (XPM™) OTP family has been qualified on GLOBALFOUNDRIES' 130nm process. Kilopass and GLOBALFOUNDRIES are working together to extend support to the XPM and Gusto product lines in the 40LP process technology and these product families are currently in qualification. The Kilopass NVM OTP memory is based on anti-fuse technology that causes a breakdown in the gate-oxide of a standard CMOS transistor. This differs from other antifuse solutions that require special dielectric or junction implants. The fundamental Kilopass antifuse bitcell is created using standard CMOS processes, so it requires no changes in manufacturing and can be implemented on the latest process technology as soon as it becomes available.
Kilopass Technology's highly reliable and cost-effective OTP memories are ready to integrate with your custom logic and other IP blocks to quickly add secure OTP non-volatile memory (NVM) capabilities to your designs. As GLOBALFOUNDRIES' process technology scales down transistor dimensions and oxide thickness, the antifuse programming voltage required to breakdown the gate oxide decreases. Thus is it possible to achieve smaller areas, lower active and standby power, and higher performance as process feature size decreases. This results in lower cost embedded NVM OTP solutions.
The Kilopass XPM and, Gusto NVM OTP memory families are ready to be implemented in a broad range of applications including:
- Memory repair for increasing yield on larger memories
- Pixel repair for imaging applications to improve quality and yield
- ROM patch capability for field updating of firmware-correcting firmware errors in-system
- Digital trim and calibration of analog circuits in order to improve precision, performance, quality, and yield
- Triple modular redundancy and other forms of self-healing applications in mission critical applications that require high availability
- System auto-calibration for sensors and imaging applications in order to assure consistent color and performance throughout the product's life cycle
- Intelligent customer product adaptation in order to automatically adapt a product feature to changing use preferences over time
Kilopass and GLOBALFOUNDRIES have worked closely together to ensure XPM and, Gusto OTP memories are easily incorporated into SoCs to be manufactured at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. The companies are working together to demonstrate robust, silicon-validated operation across the entire range of commercial operating conditions.
Kilopass IP is fully compatible with popular EDA design flows and popular IP elements including processors, memories and a range of analog components, and is used in numerous devices in production.

Gusto High Density NVM IP
Gusto is the industry's first and only 4Mb embedded non-volatile memory (NVM). It is built using standard, commercially available CMOS logic process technologies and utilizes Kilopass' patented 2T antifuse bitcell with proven security critical for secure code storage applications. With Gusto, designers can now store code, such as firmware, on-chip, thus broadening NVM storage capacity beyond just configuration and keys. |
