Product range from general purpose to high performance and standard interface I/O's. Front-end design kits are typically available from the IP vendor free of charge. 28nm
GLOBALFOUNDRIES, IBM, Samsung Electronics and STMicroelectronics announced in June 2010 that the four companies are collaborating to synchronize semiconductor manufacturing facilities for the production of advanced chips based on 28nm technology. Synchronizing processes involves matching dozens of critical physical and electrical parameters to help ensure that customers' chip designs can be produced using a common GDS2 file at multiple sources on three different continents with no redesign required. The 'Gate First' global alliance presents a global manufacturing capacity and design ecosystem for HKMG that is greater than the other leading pure play foundry. The common platform announced qualification of 28nm technology in early 2011 and the availability of full design kits for ARM libraries and memory compilers. GLOBALFOUNDRIES also offers a broad range of I/O from ARM and Aragio and a variety of SERDES interfaces from Synopsys.
