To support the long-term relationship, GLOBALFOUNDRIES and ARM signed a broad agreement on processor implementation and circuit optimization to provide mutual customers with a robust enablement program geared towards next-generation applications. The SoC enablement program, built around a full suite of ARM Physical IP, Fabric IP and Processor IP, delivers customers unparalleled design flexibility on GLOBALFOUNDRIES' most advanced HKMG semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. The collaborative efforts of the partnership focus on enabling SoC products which use the low power and high performance ARM Cortex -A9 processor on GLOBALFOUNDRIES 28nm HKMG process. The characteristics of GLOBALFOUNDRIES 28nm "Gate First" HKMG technology is optimized for high performance processing with minimal leakage making it an ideal choice for advanced mobile solutions. 7TDMI and 946E Through the ARM Foundry Program, GLOBALFOUNDRIES has licensed the ARM7TDMI® core and the ARM946E™ core, two of the most popular 32-bit RISC ARM® microprocessors, on processes ranging from 0.25 micron to 90 nanometer. Additionally, the ARM cores will be used as part of GLOBALFOUNDRIES's development and qualification vehicles. By doing so, the ARM cores will be silicon-validated on technologies from GLOBALFOUNDRIES ahead of customer engagement. Customers benefit from higher probability of success in SoC design and faster time-to-market. GLOBALFOUNDRIES has already been manufacturing ARM core-based design on various technology nodes for multiple customers with a full implementation ARM license. Through the program, customers without a full ARM license can now access GLOBALFOUNDRIES's proven manufacturing processes for embedded core designs. Additional ARM cores are available through GLOBALFOUNDRIES's design service partner, Socle. As a licensed ATAP, Socle provides hardened ARM cores optimized for performance, power and density.
