Chia Song Hwee

Chia Song Hwee is chief operating officer at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. In this critical role, Chia has broad responsibilities including global sales and marketing, 200mm and 300mm manufacturing business units, design services and enablement, supply chain management and purchasing, and quality and reliability assurance, and he reports directly to the CEO. Chia joined GLOBALFOUNDRIES as part of the integration of operations of Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, after overseeing Chartered's acquisition by ATIC and the integration efforts.

Prior to the integration of GLOBALFOUNDRIES and Chartered, Chia served as president and CEO of Chartered from June 2002 to December 2009. Chia joined Chartered in 1996, where he held a number of management positions, including senior vice president, chief financial officer, and chief administrative officer. Chia joined Chartered from Schlumberger, a global services company, where he quickly moved through control and finance positions of increasing responsibility.

Chia received his Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), with distinction, from Edith Cowan University, Australia and is a member of CPA Australia. Chia was named executive of the year in the EETimes' 2007 Annual Creativity in Electronics Awards.
