Baskara Rao Paidithali

Baskara Rao is vice president of information technology (IT) at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. In this role, Rao drives the strategy and execution of the company's global IT solutions and oversees the IT systems network that supports the business requirements of customers, partners, suppliers and employees. He reports directly to the CEO.

Rao joined GLOBALFOUNDIRES in December 2009 as part of the integration of Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing. Rao came to Chartered in 2007 as vice president and chief information officer (CIO).

Rao brings more than 20 years of IT expertise to GLOBALFOUNDRIES. Previously, Rao served as CIO for Philips Lighting Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong, with responsibility for IT excellence in the Asia Pacific region. Rao managed several key projects, driving improvement processes contributing to efficiency in operations and IT expenditures.

Rao holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (Honors) from the University Science of Malaysia, and an MBA from Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK.
